Samsung Electronics has launched a nearly 28-megawatt rooftop solar power system at its Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC) in Ho Chi Minh City’s High-Tech Park, marking a step forward in its renewable energy ambitions in Vietnam.
VnEconomy reported that the installation features almost 45,000 solar panels mounted across the factory’s rooftops, supported by equipment built to international technical standards.
According to the company, the project is the first rooftop solar installation in Vietnam to operate under the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) mechanism via a dedicated transmission line, in line with Government Decree No. 57/2025/ND-CP.
When operating at full capacity, the system is expected to produce more than 40,000 megawatt-hours of renewable electricity each year. Samsung estimates the project will cut annual carbon dioxide emissions by more than 26,000 tonnes while increasing the proportion of clean energy used in its manufacturing activities.
The company said the investment strengthens its long-term commitment to sustainable production and forms part of its broader global environmental strategy.
Samsung added that the project will serve as a platform for further renewable energy development in Vietnam, supporting the country’s transition towards cleaner energy sources and helping advance national efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
