Hanwha Solutions’ Qcells Division (Hanwha Qcells) has commenced commercial operations at the Ocotillo Wells Solar project in Borrego Springs, California. In a press release, Hanwha Solutions said it developed the 50-megawatt (MW) solar facility and a 200-megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system (BESS) project to supply electricity to Meta.
Hanwha Qcells managed the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of key equipment, including the solar and energy storage systems (ESS). Through this project, the company said it has contributed to economic growth while further advancing the energy sector by leveraging its expertise in comprehensive utility-scale solar and energy storage solutions.
Actis is set to acquire Klara Renewables, a 171 MW operating onshore wind portfolio with approximately 275 MW of hybridisation potential through co-located solar PV and BESS projects, from CVC DIF. The acquisition forms the seed asset and marks the launch of Actis’ second renewable energy platform in Central and Eastern Europe. The platform aims to have up to 1.5 GW of energy capacity, comprising onshore wind, solar PV, and BESS.
Suntech has opened a Frankfurt solar and storage service center to strengthen European localization. The opening underscores Suntech’s strategy to shift from product delivery to full-lifecycle energy service capabilities in overseas markets, with Europe identified as a key growth region. Located in Frankfurt, a major logistics and financial hub in Germany, the new center is designed to serve as a regional hub for Suntech’s European operations.
The facility integrates product demonstration, technical support, project coordination, training, and partner collaboration, aiming to improve response efficiency and strengthen localized customer service across Europe.
