Australia rooftop solar installs reach 322 MW in June – pv magazine Global

New solar small-scale technology certificate (STC) market data released by SunWiz find nationally, registrations eased for a second straight month to 322 MW in June 2026, down month-on-month (MoM) by 4%, and 26% below April’s all time STC record of 435 MW.
That anomaly is associated with the 1 May drop in demand for batteries as the federal government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program rebate scheme reduced its offerings.
“The dip is a maturing normalization, not a reversal; June was still the strongest June on record, sits comfortably above the long-run trend, and the January-June tally is the highest ever, running approximately 41% ahead of the same point in 2025,” a SunWiz statement said.
The leading segment representing about 37% (118 MW) of the existing market was the 10-15 kW, which rose 2% MoM, performing best in New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland.
Falls however were seen in the 20–30 kW (−31%) and 15–20 kW (−16%) segments, which had driven April’s spike, though still ahead on prior years.
“The national average system size slipped to 10.01 kW — a 12-month low — down from May’s 10.47 kW and April’s peak of 11.32 kW,” SunWiz said.
Comparing states and territories, Queensland STCs were up in June 16% MoM, followed by downward trends for the Australian Capital Territory (-1%), NSW (-3%), Western Australia (WA) (-5%), the Northern Territory (NT) (-9%), Tasmania (-11%), and both Victoria and South Australia (SA) down 9%.
