Dishman Carbogen Amcis Limited announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, CARBOGEN AMCIS AG, has commissioned a new ground-mounted photovoltaic power plant at its Neuland manufacturing site in Switzerland, reinforcing the group’s commitment to sustainability and cleaner energy adoption across its global operations. The newly installed solar facility has a generation capacity of 1,200 kWp and comprises 2,448 photovoltaic modules spread across nearly 6,200 square metres within the company’s industrial premises. The installation ranks among the most efficient conventional ground-mounted solar systems in the Swiss Mittelland region, delivering performance levels comparable to advanced vertical alpine solar installations.
Ground-mounted photovoltaic projects remain relatively uncommon in Switzerland, particularly within industrial facilities. By developing the system at its own manufacturing site, CARBOGEN AMCIS has taken a significant step toward increasing the use of renewable energy in its operations while reducing dependence on conventional power sources.
Electricity generated by the solar installation will primarily be consumed at the Neuland site, helping lower the facility’s carbon footprint and supporting the company’s broader environmental objectives. The project was developed in partnership with Industrielle Werke Basel (IWB) and its subsidiary Planeco, which managed the planning, engineering and execution of the installation.
Commenting on the development, Stephan Fritschi, Chief Executive Officer of CARBOGEN AMCIS AG, said, “The commissioning of this photovoltaic facility represents a strategic investment in a reliable and sustainable energy future for our Neuland site. It reflects our long-term commitment to reducing environmental impact while strengthening the resilience of our manufacturing operations.”
The facility was formally inaugurated following a three-month construction period in the presence of Dieter Egli, Government Councillor and Head of the Department of Economic Affairs and Internal Affairs of the Canton of Aargau, Urs Wiederkehr, Mayor of Hunzenschwil, Florian Gautschi from the Cantonal Economic Development Agency, along with representatives of IWB, Planeco and the leadership team of CARBOGEN AMCIS.
The solar installation forms part of CARBOGEN AMCIS’ wider sustainability programme aimed at improving energy efficiency and expanding the use of renewable energy across its manufacturing network. The company continues to invest in initiatives that support responsible operations while meeting the evolving expectations of customers and stakeholders in the global pharmaceutical industry.
CARBOGEN AMCIS AG is a leading provider of drug development and commercial manufacturing services for the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical sectors, supporting customers across all stages of clinical development and the product life cycle. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dishman Carbogen Amcis Limited, a global pharmaceutical outsourcing partner offering development, scale-up and manufacturing services through facilities located across Europe, China and India.
