Avaada Electro Commissions First 3 GW TOPCon Solar Cell Production Line at Nagpur – Machine Maker

Avaada Electro Limited, the solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing arm of Avaada Group, has commissioned the first 3 GW production line at its 6 GW high-efficiency N-Type TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility in Butibori, Nagpur. The remaining 3 GW capacity is currently under ramp-up, marking another significant milestone in the company’s strategy to strengthen India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem.
The new production line is equipped with advanced N-Type TOPCon technology capable of delivering solar cell efficiencies of up to 25.5% under standard test conditions. The facility also incorporates 16-busbar and 18-busbar cell architecture to improve power output, enhance reliability and maximize energy generation.
The Nagpur solar cell facility forms a key part of Avaada Electro’s integrated manufacturing expansion plans. The company currently operates 8.50 GW of N-Type TOPCon glass-to-glass solar module manufacturing capacity across its Nagpur and Dadri facilities and plans to expand this to 13.60 GW by adding another 5.10 GW of module capacity. In addition, Avaada is developing another 6 GW solar cell manufacturing facility at Greater Noida, which will increase its total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 12 GW. As part of its backward integration strategy, the company also plans to establish a 3 GW ingot and wafer manufacturing facility at Nagpur.
Commenting on the development, Vineet Mittal, Chairman and Whole-Time Director, Avaada Electro Limited, said, “The commissioning of the first production line at our Nagpur solar cell facility represents an important step in building a fully integrated domestic manufacturing ecosystem for clean energy technologies. Our focus is on creating world-class manufacturing capabilities that strengthen supply chain resilience, reduce dependence on imports and support India’s ambition of becoming a global hub for renewable energy manufacturing. As the country’s demand for clean, reliable power continues to grow alongside rapid industrialization, digital infrastructure and AI-driven technologies, indigenous manufacturing capacity will play a critical role in meeting future energy needs.” Designed as an integrated manufacturing ecosystem, the Butibori facility is expected to improve operational efficiencies, optimize logistics, enhance supply chain security and accelerate localization across the solar value chain.
The commissioning further reinforces Avaada Group’s position as an integrated energy transition company with operations spanning renewable power generation, solar PV manufacturing, green hydrogen, energy storage and pumped storage solutions. Avaada Energy currently has a renewable energy portfolio exceeding 17.70 GWp, including more than 7.20 GWp of operational capacity and approximately 10.50 GWp under construction, contributing to India’s clean energy transition and decarbonization goals.
Avaada Electro, the solar PV manufacturing business of Avaada Group, manufactures high-efficiency solar PV cells and modules. Backed by research and development and AI-enabled manufacturing, the company focuses on delivering high-performance, reliable and sustainable solar technologies for domestic and global markets. Avaada Group is an integrated energy transition company with businesses across renewable energy generation, solar manufacturing, green hydrogen, green fuels and energy storage solutions.
