Auckland-based Harmony Energy New Zealand develops utility-scale solar and battery storage projects, and joint venture partner Igneo Infrastructure Partners energised the 202 MW Tauhei Solar Farm near Te Aroha. The facility has started exporting electricity to New Zealand’s power grid. Testing and commissioning will continue for several months as output gradually reaches full capacity. Commercial operations are expected between September and October 2026, around three to four months ahead of schedule. Built across 182 hectares, the project will retain agricultural activity by replacing dairy operations with sheep farming. Construction has supported around 350 workers at peak activity.
