LONGi achieves 35.5% tandem solar cell efficiency record – Solarbytes

LONGi, a China-based green energy technology company, has reached a new 35.5% conversion efficiency record with a crystalline silicon-perovskite tandem cell. The result was independently certified by the European Solar Test Installation. LONGi is a China-based green energy technology company, and the tandem technology it is developing has a theoretical efficiency limit of 43%. By comparison, the theoretical ceiling for single-junction cells is 33.7%. The company improved its efficiency from 33.9% in November 2023 to 34.6% in June 2024, followed by results of 34.85% and 35.2%. Its 35.2% result was published in the 68th edition of the Solar Cell Efficiency Tables in May 2026. LONGi also achieved 34.3% with a 261 cm² industrial-scale cell and 32.2% with a 274 cm² cell. Independently certified tandem module efficiencies reached 31.4% and 29.4% in separate results.
