Waaree Renewable Technologies Ltd has signed an early contractor involvement (ECI) agreement with the special purpose vehicle of an undisclosed global independent power producer (IPP) for a utility-scale solar PV project integrated with a battery energy storage system (BESS) in New Zealand.
The project will be executed by WRTL in consortium with two local companies, with WRTL leading solar supply and engineering. This marks WRTL’s strategic entry into the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) renewable energy market.
WRTL said the ECI agreement is signed for limited early work and upon completion of ECI work, the project developer may sign the EPC contract for the project with consortium.
According to WRTL, upon completion, the project is expected to become one of New Zealand’s largest solar energy projects. The integrated renewable energy and storage solution will support the country’s transition towards a cleaner energy mix while enhancing grid reliability, improving energy resilience, and enabling greater integration of renewable power.
