The China Photovoltaic Industry Association (CPIA) has introduced a new group standard that establishes a unified framework for cost calculation across the country’s photovoltaic manufacturing supply chain, in a move aimed at improving pricing transparency and consistency across the sector.
The standard, titled General Principles of Cost Accounting Models for the Photovoltaic Industry, standardises cost accounting methods, calculation scopes and coefficients for polysilicon, wafers, solar cells and PV modules.
According to the association, the framework is designed to support more rational pricing across the industry while complementing existing standards governing energy consumption and production safety. The initiative comes as China’s solar manufacturing sector continues to face significant pricing pressure driven by excess production capacity and intense market competition.
China is also preparing to implement revised national energy efficiency standards covering polysilicon, monocrystalline silicon, photovoltaic modules and inverters from next year, further strengthening the regulatory framework for the country’s solar manufacturing industry.
