French renewables company Solmeria, formerly known as Ferme Solaire, has launched a European-wide platform for selling solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects directly to buyers.
Known as Solmeria Marketplace, the platform spans ground-mounted PV, agriPV, C&I solar and BESS, at all stages of development ranging from greenfield to ready-to-build projects.
The commission, payable only upon successful completion of a sale, is significantly lower than that of a traditional merger and acquisitions agency.
Created at the request of developers, the marketplace is aiming to bring liquidity to all projects, accelerate transactions and reduce intermediation costs.
The marketplace launched in early July. Maxime Curtaigne, CEO of Solmeria, told pv magazine France there are already 28 developers registered on the platform.
There are currently 24 projects listed, all at differing stages of development, totaling 200 MW of capacity. Several hundered MWs of projects are expected by the end of the year.
“Developers know how to sell a project, but they waste considerable time finding the right buyer, and end up grouping everything into a portfolio at the expense of their best assets. We want to reverse this logic: make each project marketable individually and connect it with the person who will give it its true value,” Curtaigne explained.
“Value is not in the portfolio, it is in the relevant connection. Solmeria wants to become the infrastructure for this new liquidity in the European solar market,” he adds.
