T1 Energy Inc. (NYSE: TE) has signed a strategic supply agreement with Clearway Energy Group to provide 641 megawatts of solar modules manufactured with domestically produced solar cells, reinforcing the company’s strategy of building an integrated U.S. solar manufacturing platform while supporting growing demand for American-made renewable energy components.
The agreement calls for T1 to supply modules produced using solar cells from its G2_Austin solar cell manufacturing facility. The contract provides Clearway, one of the nation’s largest independent power producers and renewable energy developers, with a domestic source of high-performance, traceable solar equipment for future utility-scale projects.
The deal represents another step in T1’s effort to establish a vertically integrated U.S. solar supply chain at a time when project developers are increasingly seeking domestically manufactured equipment to manage tariff uncertainty, qualify for domestic content incentives and improve supply chain reliability.
“We are pleased to be signing a strategic partnership with Clearway, a leading energy developer that is adding needed gigawatts to U.S. grids,” said Dan Barcelo, chairman and chief executive officer of T1 Energy. “Customers such as Clearway seeking high-domestic-content modules are building critical momentum for a ‘Made in America’ supply chain.”
T1 currently operates its 5-gigawatt G1_Dallas solar module manufacturing facility and is expanding upstream production through construction of the G2_Austin solar cell factory. The company broke ground on the Austin facility in December 2025 and expects the first 2.1-gigawatt production phase to begin manufacturing solar cells during the first quarter of 2027.
By combining domestic cell production with U.S.-manufactured modules, T1 expects to offer products containing more than 60% domestic content beginning in 2027. The integrated manufacturing strategy is designed to help customers optimize project financing, construction schedules and eligibility for incentives tied to domestic manufacturing.
For Clearway, the agreement supports its renewable energy development pipeline while expanding the use of domestically produced equipment. The company said the partnership aligns with its strategy of investing in American manufacturing while maintaining high standards for product traceability, quality and domestic content.
“Contracts with top-tier manufacturers like T1 help ensure that Clearway can deliver on our ambitious development pipeline with competitive and reliable projects,” said Frances Cook, vice president of procurement at Clearway Energy. “With this deal, we are especially excited to bring domestic cells into future construction, generating American-made power with American-made parts.”
The agreement reflects broader changes across the U.S. solar industry, where developers and manufacturers are investing in domestic production capacity following federal policies encouraging onshore manufacturing. As trade policies and tariffs continue to reshape global solar supply chains, demand has increased for fully traceable, U.S.-manufactured solar components that reduce procurement risk while supporting domestic energy infrastructure.
For T1, the contract also provides commercial validation for its manufacturing expansion strategy. The company has positioned itself as an integrated energy solutions provider following a transformational transaction completed in December 2024 that established one of the largest solar manufacturing platforms in the United States. Alongside its domestic manufacturing investments, T1 continues to pursue a complementary solar and energy storage strategy while evaluating opportunities to optimize assets across its European portfolio.
As utilities and independent power producers continue expanding renewable generation capacity to meet rising electricity demand, agreements such as the one with Clearway highlight the growing importance of secure domestic supply chains in supporting the next phase of U.S. solar deployment.
