Tandem PV, a U.S. developer and manufacturer of high-efficiency perovskite-silicon solar panels, has acquired Oregon-based nexTC Corporation to integrate advanced thin-film metal oxide coating technology into its perovskite-silicon solar panel manufacturing. The acquisition adds nexTC’s coating technology, intellectual property and technical expertise as Tandem PV prepares for commercial-scale production. It follows the opening of the company’s 65,000-square-foot demonstration factory in Fremont, California, which includes a production line with approximately 40 MW of annual nameplate capacity for customer validation and market trials. The company said bringing the coating process in-house will provide greater control over a critical manufacturing step and support production scale-up. nexTC founder and CEO Cory Perkins, Ph.D., will join Tandem PV as part of the acquisition.
