Indian solar module manufacturing company Bluebird Solar has announced securing a 278 MW solar PV module supply order from Bridge & Roof Company (India) Ltd. for two solar power projects being developed by SJVN. Under the contract, the company will supply 600 Wp M10R N-Type TOPCon dual-glass bifacial solar PV modules for a 133 MW project at Khavda in Gujarat and a 145 MW project at Nawa in Rajasthan.
At SaurEnergy, we have highlighted previously how PSU demand is going to be a critical means to capacity utilisation for module makers without cell manufacturing yet, even though margins are likely yo br lower. Bluebird solar has not given a timeline for delivery of the latest order, although the SJVN project is likely to be outside the mandataroy DCR use rule.
Commenting on the development, Rohit Tikku, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bluebird Solar, said the order reflects the company’s focus on quality, technology, and project execution. “We are delighted to secure this order from Bridge & Roof Company Ltd. for the SJVN project. As India accelerates its renewable energy transition, we remain committed to delivering high-performance solar PV modules that support large-scale clean energy generation,” he said.
Bluebird Solar currently operates a 2.5 GW automated solar PV module manufacturing facility at Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The company supplies modules for utility-scale, commercial, industrial and residential projects across India.
As part of its expansion strategy, Bluebird Solar plans to establish 2.5 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity along with wafer and ingot production facilities. It also intends to diversify into Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
The company said these investments are aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities, improving supply chain resilience, and supporting India’s clean energy and self-reliance objectives.Blue
