German retail giant Aldi has extended its rooftop solar and battery program beyond Australia’s eastern states following its introduction last year, with the residential solar and energy storage packages now available in select suburbs in Perth and Adelaide.
Developed in partnership with Sydney-based Tempo Group, Aldi said the offering combines flexible solar and battery options and certified installation services through a single package.
Aldi’s solar packages include a 7 kW or 7.9 kW solar system featuring 440 W panels and a 6 kW hybrid inverter bundled with a choice of four battery capacities ranging from 5 kWh to 20 kWh. Customers who already have solar installed on their homes can opt for a battery-only package.
Prices for the solar and battery packages start at $7,499 (USD 5,300) with the cheapest offering comprising a 7 kW solar array, 5 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage system, and a 6 kW inverter.
The retailer said all packages include blackout protection at no additional cost, as well as a 10-year warranty and a 25-year performance guarantee on solar panels.
Aldi Australia Group Director Simon Padovani-Ginies said the offering aims to simplify the process of switching to renewable energy with the process, from roof suitability checks and purchase to installations, managed through an online portal.
“Aldi Solar takes the complexity out of going solar by offering straightforward pricing, trusted installation and exceptional value, giving households greater control over their energy costs,” he said, adding that the expansion into Westen and South Australia will give even more consumers access to residential rooftop solar.
“With an exceptional payback period possible, we’re making it easier than ever for South [and Western] Australians to invest in their homes and benefit from renewable energy,” he said.
