China Solar PV News Snippets: Cornex Commissions 80 GWh Battery Expansion In Hubei & More – TaiyangNews

Energy storage battery manufacturer Cornex New Energy has commissioned the second phase of its lithium-ion battery industrial park in Yichang, Hubei Province. Representing a total investment of RMB 22 billion, the phase has a planned annual production capacity of 80 GWh for EV batteries, stationary energy storage cells, and PACK modules.
The company said production efficiency per line has increased by more than 60% compared with the park’s first phase. At full utilization, the facility is expected to produce more than 800,000 battery cells per day. The expansion follows the commissioning of the project’s 40 GWh first phase in 2023.
Earlier, in May, Cornex received energy conservation review approvals for lithium battery manufacturing plants with a combined 290 GWh of planned production capacity (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
PV equipment manufacturer Delicacy Laser has delivered its self-developed transient IV testing system for triple-junction gallium arsenide (GaAs) concentrator cells to a domestic commercial aerospace R&D company.
The system uses a transient xenon lamp to reproduce AM0 space illumination conditions and supports concentration levels of up to 1,000 suns. It has an effective illumination area of 20 mm × 20 mm, with a standard intensity of 1,367 W/m² per sun, and can measure electrical parameters including short-circuit current, open-circuit voltage, maximum power point, and conversion efficiency.
Delicacy Laser highlighted its mobile solar simulator and AM0 spectrum solar simulator at SNEC 2026 (see Delicacy Presents Mobile And AM0 Solar Simulators At SNEC).
Major power and energy project developer Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) has achieved full-capacity grid connection for the 1.1 GW Hangjin Banner wind-solar project in Ordos, Inner Mongolia. The project comprises 800 MW of solar PV and 300 MW of wind power and combines renewable energy development with desert restoration under China’s Three-North Shelterbelt Forest Program.
The project uses PV arrays together with straw checkerboard barriers and desert vegetation to stabilize shifting sands. POWERCHINA also deployed intelligent PV installation robots, with each unit capable of installing more than 800 modules per day. The project is expected to generate around 2.4 billion kWh of electricity annually for the West Inner Mongolia power grid.
In April, POWERCHINA ignited the 100 MW CSP section of its 1 GW CSP-PV integrated project in Bozhou, Xinjiang (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Inner Mongolia Energy Group has been selected as the lead developer for power infrastructure projects at 2 green power industrial parks in Inner Mongolia. The projects will involve incremental distribution networks to support the renewable energy requirements of data centers and computing facilities through coordinated development of wind and solar power, energy storage, and grid infrastructure.
The 2 parks have a combined planned wind and solar capacity of 6.67 GW. The Chahar Industrial Park has planned power loads of 1.27 GW, 2.42 GW, and 3.47 GW across the short, medium, and long terms, respectively, while the Helingeer Industrial Park has corresponding loads of 0.86 GW, 1.68 GW, and 3.2 GW. Each park also has 3,120 MVA of planned additional substation capacity.
Construction of the renewable energy, grid infrastructure, and energy storage projects is scheduled to begin by the end of 2026. Wind, solar, and new energy storage projects are expected to be completed in phases by the end of 2027, followed by grid connection and acceptance procedures.
