Mineral King Renewable Energy awarded $7,500 in community grants to three Tulare County organizations in the second quarter of 2026.
The Mineral King Renewable Energy is a 200-megawatt solar generation and storage project being developed by Vesper Energy. The project will consist of ground-mounted solar panels and energy storage infrastructure installed on 2,000 to 2,500 acres of privately owned land in Tulare County.
The project will generate enough clean, renewable energy to power more than 20,000 California homes, and will benefit the local, regional and state economies through short- and long-term employment opportunities, according to a news release.
Mineral King Renewable Energy will help California meet its Renewable Portfolio Standard, which requires that 100% of the state’s electricity come from carbon-free sources by 2045, according to the release.
It is slated for completion in 2029.
The recipients are the Tule River Parkway Association, American GI Forum and Farmersville Aztecs Youth Football & Cheer. The money will support community events, youth development and recreational activities.
The Tule River Parkway Association will put its grant toward the Elderberry Festival, a community event that celebrates local culture and traditions.
“This support helps us continue hosting an event that brings the community together while celebrating the traditions and heritage of our region,” said Catherine Capone, the association’s president.
The American GI Forum will use its grant for a youth boxing program that aims to build confidence, discipline and healthy habits.
“Programs like this give young people a positive environment to learn new skills, stay active and develop confidence both inside and outside the gym,” said Leonard Valesquez, commander of the American GI Forum.
Farmersville Aztecs Youth Football & Cheer will buy upgraded equipment for its football and cheer programs.
“Keeping our equipment up to date helps provide a safer experience for participants and allows more young athletes to enjoy the benefits of youth sports,” said Sergio Valencia, president of the organization.
