Finnish Solar & Battery Storage Joint Venture For 3 GW – TaiyangNews

FEP and Aurinkokarhu have announced a new joint venture with a focus on the Finnish market
The JV will develop around 3 GW of solar PV, BESS, and hybrid power projects in the Nordic country
The partnership also covers an early-stage pipeline spanning Finland and Sweden
Futureal Energy Partners (FEP), the energy division of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) focused real estate company Futureal Group, and Finnish renewable energy developer Aurinkokarhu Oy will co-develop about 3 GW of solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hybrid projects in Finland.
Aurinkokarhu says that the joint venture (JV) will support the development of its 3 GW Finnish pipeline and mark its expansion into other Nordic countries. The company focuses on large-scale energy and data center projects.
The Finnish company’s portfolio includes 2 GW of BESS under development, 1 GW of solar PV, and multiple hybrid projects combining generation and storage. It expects around 1 GW of projects to reach ready-to-build (RTB) status during 2026, with the remaining projects targeted for 2027 and 2028.
“Batteries are the silent workhorses of the energy transition. Every megawatt-hour of storage capacity we build creates room for more renewable energy in the system without compromising the reliability of supply, and it smooths out the sharpest spikes in electricity prices for ordinary consumers,” said Andreas Renfält, co-founder and CEO of Aurinkokarhu.
FEP shared that the partnership includes an early-stage pipeline of more than 0.8 GW across Finland and Sweden in the coming years.
While Aurinkokarhu brings its local development capabilities, FEP contributes its financial and transaction capabilities to the partnership.
Calling Finland one of Europe’s most attractive markets for renewable energy and energy storage, FEP said it sees significant potential to develop high-quality renewable energy projects in the country.
The collaboration between FEP and Aurinkokarhu follows their earlier cooperation on the Tuovila BESS transaction, which marked the former’s entry into the Finnish market in March 2026.
