BRAMPTON, ONT. – The Daniels Corporation, AltCrest Energy and Otter Energy Inc. have completed a 615 kilowatt (kW) DC community-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) system at Daniels MPV2, providing power for an all-electric, net-zero condominium townhouse community in Brampton.
According to a release, the renewable energy project will generate clean electricity onsite for the community and provide long-term electricity cost savings.
The solar PV system is owned by AltCrest Energy under an Energy-as-a-Service framework, with Otter Energy Inc. serving as the engineering, design and construction partner responsible for system delivery.
MPV2 is the first phase of Daniels’ 19-acre, low-carbon master-planned community located at Bovaird Drive West and Mississauga Road.
The townhomes are compromised of six blocks of back-to-back stacked townhomes and one block of stacked townhomes.
Copper-coloured panels are used throughout the townhome blocks providing a visual connection to the mid-rise condominiums.
The West Tower, at 11 storeys, and East Tower, at 14 storeys, are connected by a single-storey pavilion providing a central space to meet. The pavilion provides direct access to the shared indoor and outdoor amenity spaces, elevators and connections to the outdoor pedestrian pathways within the community, the company notes.
