Waaree Transpower completes 17.6 MVA inverter duty transformer testing at CPRI – pv magazine India

Waaree Transpower, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies, has completed type testing of its 17.6 MVA, five-winding inverter duty transformer (IDT) at the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) in Bhopal, strengthening its technical capabilities in the renewable energy and battery energy storage system (BESS) segments.
Inverter duty transformers play a critical role in renewable energy projects by facilitating the efficient integration of power generated through inverter-based systems into the electrical grid. With the rapid expansion of solar power, BESS and other inverter-based energy systems, demand for specialised transformer solutions is expected to increase.
Waaree Transpower said its 17.6 MVA IDT successfully underwent dynamic short-circuit, impulse and temperature-rise tests, demonstrating its ability to meet performance and reliability requirements for renewable power generation and grid-connected energy systems.
The successful type testing represents an important technology milestone for Waaree Transpower and expands its ability to cater to large-scale renewable energy projects requiring specialised IDTs.
Complementing this technical achievement, Waaree Transpower has also secured orders for more than 120 inverter duty transformers of ratings from 11MVA to 20 MVA for solar, wind and BESS application.
