Emmvee Energy, Waaree Energies and Avaada Electro have shifted their listed solar cell portfolios towards larger-format G12R N-type TOPCon technology, according to the latest revision of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM-II) for solar PV cells. The latest ALMM-II of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy showed the latest transition of the three firms through their model additions.
The latest additions show the three manufacturers moving beyond their earlier M10/M10R and G12 formats, with changes in cell dimensions, busbar configuration, efficiency and average wattage.
Emmvee has added its EM16D1-TCM12R bifacial Mono-c-Si TOPCon cell, replacing neither but adding to its earlier EM16D1-TCM10 listing. The new cell measures 182.3 mm × 210 mm and uses 16 busbars, compared with the earlier 182.2 mm × 183.75 mm format. Its average efficiency stands at 25.60% and average wattage at 9.80 W, against 24.62% and 8.24 W respectively for the earlier model. Emmvee’s enlisted capacity for the new model is 2,153 MW per year, compared with 1,553 MW per year for the earlier listing.
Waaree has made a similar transition from its earlier M10R N-type bifacial TOPCon cell to the WSC-N-G12R-16BB. Its earlier M10R model had an average efficiency of 25.54% and average wattage of 8.53 W, while the latest G12R cell has an average efficiency of 25.39% and average wattage of 9.73 W. The new cell measures 210 mm × 182.3 mm and has 16 busbars. This indicates that Waaree’s latest addition is primarily a move towards a larger cell format and higher wattage rather than a straightforward efficiency upgrade.
Avaada, meanwhile, has expanded its portfolio from G12 18-busbar TOPCon cells to G12R 16-busbar variants. Its latest listing includes both N-G12R-16B-HC-AVA, a half-cut cell with an average efficiency of 25.83% and average wattage of 4.93 W, and N-G12R-16B-FC-AVA, a full-cell variant with average efficiency of 25.71% and average wattage of 9.83 W. The company had earlier listed G12 18-busbar half-cut and full-cell variants with average efficiencies of 25.63% and 25.57%, respectively.
The Avaada addition, however, does not represent a simple increase in cell wattage. Its earlier G12 full-cell had an average wattage of 11.28 W, higher than the 9.83 W of the latest G12R full-cell, while the half-cut version has similarly moved from 5.65 W to 4.93 W. The more significant change is therefore the move from G12 18BB to G12R 16BB architecture, accompanied by a marginal improvement in average efficiency.
The latest ALMM revision consequently points to a broader shift among the three manufacturers towards G12R-format N-type TOPCon technology. While Emmvee and Waaree have recorded clear increases in average wattage over their earlier M10/M10R listings, Avaada has focused on expanding its G12R portfolio across half-cut and full-cell configurations. The additions also show that the industry’s technology transition is not solely about increasing efficiency, but involves larger cell formats, different interconnection configurations and higher power density at the cell level.
