Romania clears grid connection for 2.3 GW of Eurowind Energy projects – Review Energy

Eurowind Energy Romania has obtained Technical Connection Approvals (ATR) for 2,307.4 MW of renewable energy capacity across seven projects combining wind, solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS), marking a key step towards connecting the projects to Romania’s national electricity grid.
The approvals were obtained in June 2026 and cover projects planned in several Romanian counties. The portfolio includes the 900 MW Albesti wind project in Constanta County, the 49 MW Manesti solar-plus-BESS project in Prahova County, and a 1,188 MW wind portfolio in Botosani County.
The remaining projects are the 49.6 MW Stancuta wind project in Braila County, the 49.6 MW Liesti wind project in Galati County, the 49.6 MW Slobozia Conachi wind project in Galati County, and the 21.6 MW Pechea wind project, also in Galati County.
According to Eurowind Energy Romania, the Technical Connection Approvals represent an essential step towards connecting the future renewable energy facilities to the grid.
“We currently have a pipeline of approximately 7.5 GW at different stages of development and have already started construction works on the Frumusita and Vector wind farms in Galati County and Pecineaga Nord-Est in Constanta County – a total of 138 MW of clean energy to be connected to the grid,” Adrian Dobre, Country Manager of Eurowind Energy Romania, said.
Dobre added that obtaining connection approvals for a further 2,307.4 MW represents an important step in expanding the company’s project portfolio and contributing to Romania’s energy transition objectives. However, the projects are expected to be connected to the national energy system after 2030, with their grid connection and completion dependent on grid reinforcement and obtaining construction permits in due time.
“We are taking all the necessary steps and working closely with grid operators and authorities to deliver these projects,” Dobre said.
The largest project covered by the approvals is the 1,188 MW wind project in Botosani County. It is planned to be developed in phases and will comprise nine wind farms located within the county.
According to Eurowind Energy Romania, the project is expected to begin its execution schedule around 2031. The company says the development could contribute to Romania’s energy security and to the country’s potential role as an important exporter of renewable electricity in the region.
Eurowind Energy has been active in the Romanian market since 2011, where it develops and operates renewable energy projects through a local team.
The company currently operates four solar parks — Halchiu, Magurele, Pufesti and Teius — and one wind farm, Pecineaga. Its Romanian pipeline stands at approximately 7.5 GW across different stages of development.
Eurowind Energy currently has 184 MW in operation in Romania, including 60 MW of battery storage capacity at Teius.
