AL-KO VTE Launches High-Efficiency Solar Product Range – RVBusiness

AL-KO Vehicle Technology Electronics (VTE) introduced four high-efficiency solar modules and a new solar charge regulator designed to provide RV owners with more onboard power and longer periods between battery charges, according to a press release.
The new 12-volt MFBC solar range includes four Back Contact photovoltaic modules producing between 155 and 270 watts. Each uses cells with 25.5% efficiency and is designed to accommodate different vehicle sizes and rooftop configurations. The company also introduced its PRM800 Solar Charge Regulator, which can manage higher-wattage modules or multiple connected panels. 
“The trend among customers is to use more appliances during their trips, such as microwave, air conditioning and television, as well as personal devices such as laptops,” said Corrado Fiori, head of aftermarket sales in Italy for AL-KO VTE.
Fiori said demand is also growing for greater independence from external charging sources, especially as RV owners use more electrical equipment while traveling.
“Modern customers also want more autonomy, which means they need to generate more power independently via photovoltaic panels,” Fiori said. “Therefore, we used the latest technology to create a new range to meet this modern camping lifestyle.” 
The MFBC155S is the smallest model, producing up to 155 watts in a slim configuration designed to fit camper vans and roofs with limited space around other equipment. The MFBC190 produces 190 watts with a shorter, wider profile.
The MFBC230 increases maximum output to 230 watts, while the range-topping MFBC270 produces up to 270 watts. All four modules are available in the company’s Super Black finish. 
AL-KO VTE will offer the modules as individual kits for retail and e-commerce customers and in multipacks for vehicle manufacturers and converters. Kits include installation cables, MC4 connectors, a roof feed-through and removable black anodized aluminum mounting brackets. An optional extension cable allows modules to be connected in series. 
The panels feature anti-reflective cell coatings, tempered glass and protective Black Tedlar backing intended to prevent moisture and air from reaching electrical components. The modules weigh between 7.7 and 13.4 kilograms, depending on the model. 
The PRM800 uses Maximum Power Point Tracker technology to manage energy from the panels and protect lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries during charging. It supports 12- and 24-volt batteries and includes Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to monitor battery charge levels through a mobile app.
