Solis has commissioned its first EverCore battery energy storage system (BESS) in India, deploying a 500 kW/1.04 MWh system at a software IT data center in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The project combines rooftop solar with battery storage to maximize on-site renewable energy consumption throughout daily operations, while reducing reliance on diesel generators.
The integrated solar-plus-storage solution was developed in partnership with Inforce Engineering Solutions (Inforce Solar). It comprises an 870 kW rooftop PV array using 615 Wp TOPCon modules, alongside four SolisStorage EverCore 261 kWh battery units and four Solis S6-EH3P125K hybrid inverters
“Each EverCore unit delivers 261 kWh of storage and is engineered to pair with Solis hybrid inverters, allowing businesses to capture surplus solar energy and dispatch it when needed,” stated Solis. “In this project, four EverCore units run in parallel to provide reliable, flexible backup and peak-shaving capacity for the data center.”
The battery system has a power rating of 500 kW and usable energy capacity of 1.04 MWh.
During daytime, the rooftop array generates solar power, with surplus energy stored in the EverCore batteries and discharged when demand peaks or during grid outage, maximizing on-site renewable energy self-consumption throughout daily operations
Data centers have traditionally relied on diesel generators for backup power. Rising fuel costs and corporate sustainability targets are pushing operators toward cleaner alternatives. By integrating solar PV with battery storage, this system adds a low-carbon energy resource that can reduce diesel-generator runtime under suitable operating conditions.
