Energy watchdog RAAEY is investigating the unusual decline in photovoltaic electricity production during the midday hours of some days in August, when it should have been at its peak.
According to market players, some producers may be voluntarily limiting their production in order to avoid losses from potential negative prices in the wholesale electricity market. This practice, if confirmed, may affect prices and balancing costs, while raising questions about possible market manipulation.
The regulator is specifically examining the period between August 17-23, requesting detailed data from the Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE).
