WattPower has introduced its 506KTL grid-forming utility-scale inverter, a 506 kW string inverter designed for large-scale solar projects.
The company said the grid-forming inverter is intended to help engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) companies and renewable energy developers meet evolving grid-code requirements while maintaining stable plant operation.
The transformerless inverter supports a maximum DC input voltage of 1,500 V and has six maximum power point trackers (MPPTs). Each MPPT can handle up to 105 A of input current, with a maximum short-circuit current of 180 A. Each MPPT supports up to six PV inputs.
The inverter has a maximum efficiency of 99.1% and a European efficiency of 98.8%. Its nominal AC output voltage is 1,000 V, with a nominal output current of 242.5 A and a maximum output current of 292.2 A.
“Built to provide 1000V AC, the 506KTL smart string inverter helps improve project returns for utility-scale developers. By reducing inverter count and associated balance-of-system costs while improving plant availability through advanced Grid-Forming capabilities, the inverter helps lower lifetime operating costs, maximise energy generation and enhance the overall return on investment across the project’s lifecycle,” stated WattPower.
The inverter measures 1,065 mm x 800 mm x 400 mm and weighs 130 kg, including the mounting plate. It has an IP66 protection rating and C5-Medium anti-corrosion protection.
The operating temperature range is -25 C to 60 C.
According to WattPower, the inverter incorporates AI-enabled monitoring and plant-optimization functions, as well as a hybrid cooling system for thermal management. It also features an Anti-Icing fan to maintain dependable performance across diverse climatic conditions and SSLD2 protection technology to enhance equipment safety, operational reliability and long-term resilience, helping developers maximise plant uptime throughout the project lifecycle.
