SOL Components, a manufacturer of solar trackers, received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Sept. 1 for a device called QuickGrip, which is used to mount modules on single-axis tracker systems, according to Solar Power World.
Dean Solon, founder and chief executive of Create Energy, the parent company of SOL Components, said the patent reflects the work of the company’s engineering, product development and operations teams. He added that innovation is central to the company’s mission and that securing the patent shows continued investment in technologies intended to improve solar deployment, lower costs and create long-term value for customers and partners.
The patent, numbered US 12,726,152 B2, is titled Solar Panel Rail. It covers the QuickGrip method for attaching a module frame to a panel rail through an indexing flange.
SOL Components currently makes two single-axis solar tracker models and a fixed-tilt racking product.
Solon said protecting innovation is important for maintaining the company’s market leadership. He described the patent as evidence of the teams’ commitment to developing technologies that strengthen competitive advantage and deliver faster installation, improved reliability and greater value for customers’ energy projects.
Create Energy acquired SOL Components in June and offers the tracker manufacturer’s products through its web-based project design and management platform.
