WINNEBAGO (WLUK) — A proposed solar farm project in Winnebago County is drawing pushback from residents and state lawmakers as Alliant Energy seeks to build what it describes as a large, multi-town development.
The 1,500-acre project is being proposed by Alliant Energy. On its website, Alliant says the project would span across the towns of Algoma, Nekimi, Utica and Omro. Alliant says it would use 142,000 solar panels.
More than 100 community members gathered tonight to learn more about the proposed solar farm. The meeting was organized by state Rep. Nate Gustafson, who represents the impacted area.
