Solar power company looks at stock exchange float – RNZ

One of the pioneers of large scale solar power generation is looking at a possible stock exchange listing.
Lodestone Energy, founded in 2019 with five solar developments, said it is looking at a share float, otherwise known as an initial public offering (IPO), to fund future growth.
Managing director Gary Holden said demand for solar power is growing and the company wanted to pursue its strategy of building generating farms close to communities that use the electricity.
"Our vision is to build a solar farm in every community and develop Lodestone Energy into a vertically integrated gentailer capable of serving customers across New Zealand."
"If the IPO proceeds, the capital raised is intended to support the construction of additional solar farms, expansion of our customer base and general corporate purposes."
Holden said investors would get an opportunity to participate in the company's expansion.
The company is currently only asking for potential investors to signal their interest.
Lodestone has financed its previous developments through private capital raising of more than $500 million, but last year backed suggestions that Kiwisaver funds be allowed to invest in private assets.
If Lodestone goes through with the share sale it would be the first on the NZX in five years, although a handful of companies have listed to broaden their shareholder base through future trading, or as local listings for foreign concerns operating in New Zealand.
