WEST CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) – Work is continuing at the U.S.S. Cincinnati Memorial Peace Pavilion in West Chester, where new solar panels have been installed on a full-size replica of the submarine.
The panels represent the portion of the hull that is visible when the submarine is on the surface.
In addition to providing shade for visitors, the solar installation is expected to power an AI platform and interactive software designed to deliver STEM education content at interactive kiosks using QR codes in the future.
The project is also expected to generate enough electricity to sell some power back to the local grid, with the proceeds helping fund upkeep at the pavilion.
