EAST Lothian has been ranked as one of Britain’s leading solar hotspots.
New analysis shows that nearly 13 per cent of households in the county have MCS-certified solar PV installations.
Research by Glow Green found that East Lothian recorded 5,567 MCS-certified Solar PV installations between 2019 and 2025, placing it second in Britain for household solar uptake.
Lloyd Greenfield, CEO of Glow Green, said: “The latest energy price cap announcement is a reminder that household energy costs are still being shaped by forces well beyond the control of individual consumers.
“Even though prices are below the peak of the energy crisis, many households are still facing uncertainty over what they will pay from one winter to the next.
“That uncertainty is one of the reasons solar has moved from being seen as a purely environmental upgrade to a much more practical household decision.”
Top of the list was the Isle of Anglesey, with 15.58 per cent, while Midlothian is third on 12.39 per cent, compared to East Lothian’s 12.92 per cent.
