TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Vigo County has been certified as a commercial solar and wind energy “ready community.”
Officials say the designation reflects the county’s adoption of standards consistent with state requirements.
They say it paves the way for development of commercial scale solar and wind projects.
The designation will also qualify the county for incentive and grant funding for a period of 10 years at the rate of $1 per megawatt hour of electricity generated.
The county says those funds will be used to improve and maintain local roads and bridges.
