LONGi’s Wuhu Production Base has become the first photovoltaic module factory to achieve Level 4 certification under China’s Manufacturing Maturity Model (CMMM), strengthening the company’s position in smart manufacturing and automated production.
The CMMM is a national framework used to assess smart manufacturing capabilities in China. It is based on two national standards covering intelligent manufacturing capability maturity and its assessment methodology.
The framework has five maturity levels, with Level 4 classified as the Optimized level. No Chinese enterprise has yet reached Level 5, the highest Leading level. LONGi said only around 100 enterprises nationwide have achieved Level 4 certification.

The Wuhu certification covers 15 key areas, including supply chain procurement, intelligent production scheduling, equipment operation and maintenance, energy management, safety and environmental protection, and logistics.
The production base manufactures LONGi’s back contact modules, including the Hi MO 9 and Hi MO X10. The facility has deployed seven AI engines covering employee skills management, production scheduling, quality inspection, equipment maintenance, process optimisation, energy management, and warehousing and logistics.
LONGi said its full chain AI quality inspection platform has increased defect detection efficiency by 80% and reduced quality issues across the production line by 40%.
Production efficiency has increased by 21% following equipment and process upgrades across four major workstations covering screen printing, welding, layout and repair. The intelligent dispatch system has improved dispatch efficiency by 60%, while an AI based air and water coordinated control system has reduced overall energy consumption by 7%.
LONGi said the integration of AI across the production process has moved its smart manufacturing capability beyond individual automated processes towards a more integrated approach covering the wider manufacturing value chain.
The company said the resulting improvements are reflected in shorter delivery lead times, more consistent product quality and greater transparency of carbon footprint data.
The Wuhu facility is also the production site for LONGi’s Hi MO 9 module, which the company says has received the photovoltaic industry’s first all scenario reliability certification. LONGi said AI based quality inspection, predictive maintenance and flexible production scheduling support the module’s performance across different climate and terrain conditions.
The certification follows the recognition of LONGi’s Jiaxing Production Base as a Lighthouse Factory by the World Economic Forum. According to China’s Public Service Platform for Smart Manufacturing Evaluation and Assessment, both the Wuhu and Jiaxing production bases have achieved CMMM Level 4 certification.
LONGi said it is continuing to deploy its smart manufacturing model across its production network, combining digital manufacturing systems with quality management and green production practices.
