Bondada Engineering, an EPC contractor headquartered in Hyderabad, has landed an order valued at INR 11.54 billion (US$119.3 million) to provide engineering, procurement, and construction services for a 270MWp ground-mounted solar PV installation distributed over several sites in Maharashtra, India.
The contract was granted by a domestic firm whose identity was withheld, which focuses on renewable energy project development and implementation, per the contractor’s regulatory submission to the stock exchanges.
Bondada is responsible for the EPC development of the project, which must be finished within six months of receiving the order.
According to the contractor, this contract marks a notable expansion of its renewable energy portfolio and bolsters its expertise in delivering large-scale solar EPC projects.
The company has been pursuing prospects in solar EPC, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and other nascent infrastructure areas, emphasizing project diversification and broadening its execution capacity.
During this year, Bondada obtained several sizable renewable energy contracts, such as an INR 13.38 billion (US$141 million) EPC contract from NTPC Renewable Energy for a 250MW solar PV project combined with a 50MW/200MWh BESS in Uttar Pradesh, and an INR 8.16 billion (US$85 million) contract from NTPC Green Energy for balance-of-system work on a 600MW solar PV project in Rajasthan.
In a separate development, Onix IPP, Bondada’s independent power producer subsidiary, has secured INR 9.11 billion (US$94.1 million) in financing from the State Bank of India for a 225MW solar project in Maharashtra.
The approved facility includes an INR 9 billion term loan and INR 112.5 million in non-fund-based facilities, as detailed in a regulatory filing by Bondada.
Onix IPP is developing the project, which is supported by a 25-year power purchase agreement with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
Bondada noted that the financing will aid its growth into the renewable energy IPP sector and the creation of a portfolio of long-term renewable energy assets.
Beyond this, Onix is building a wider renewable energy portfolio covering solar, wind, and hybrid projects throughout India. Its existing pipeline features 1,215MW of PM-KUSUM projects in Maharashtra and 187MW in Gujarat, plus over 250MW of captive solar and 350MW of utility-scale solar in Gujarat.
The company also possesses more than 150MW of solar-wind hybrid capacity and over 600MW of standalone wind projects. Onix aims for a total renewable energy portfolio of 10GW by 2030.
India’s shift toward renewable energy, encompassing solar PV, energy storage, and grid integration, will be a central theme at the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo, held alongside the Energy Storage Summit India (ESS India), in Greater Noida from 22-24 October 2026.
