Dimapur, October 7 (MExN): A two-day batch-wise training on the operation and maintenance of PV solar power systems and Saura-eMitra was conducted on October 6 and 7 at District Hospital, Dimapur for personnel from health units with installed solar systems.
The training focused on enabling users to independently maintain the systems, identify early signs of damage and abnormalities, and adopt safe practices to ensure uninterrupted and efficient power supply.
Participants were trained on routine maintenance of solar panels, including visual inspection, cleaning and checking for shading caused by trees. The sessions also covered battery inspection for dust and damage, and checking charge controllers for dust accumulation, error messages and other abnormalities.
Safety precautions while using DC appliances were also covered, including avoiding the connection of DC bulbs to AC bulb holders or standard AC outlets, understanding the damage and safety hazards that can result from incorrect connections, and checking labels on DC bulbs and fans to ensure the correct voltage and current.
The training was aimed at helping participants follow prescribed weekly and monthly maintenance schedules, reduce system failures and safety hazards, and extend the efficiency and service life of the solar systems, informed a press release from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Office Dimapur.
Two staff members each from 50 health units with installed solar systems under CMO Dimapur participated.
