A U.K. homeowner said on Reddit that their newly replaced roof got 15 solar panels installed only eight hours before the scaffolding was removed, letting them lock in the money-saving upgrade before that access was gone.
In the Reddit post on r/SolarUK, the user said the reroofing moved so quickly that there was almost no time to organize the solar work.
The setup has been mounted, but it is still waiting to go live. According to the homeowner, a G99 application was already in, and after that gets approved, the system will be powered up and fitted with a Sig 10 battery and an 8-kilowatt inverter.
The homeowner said bigger providers were “not interested in a 2 phase install,” so the work ended up being split and handled by a nearby installer, a route the poster said was the “only way to use the roofers scaffold.”

One person wrote, “Usually you can’t get scaffolders to come and take it back!”
The poster said the scaffolding had already been moved to a friend’s place “a few doors down” for another roof job after a commenter proposed paying to keep it in place longer, adding that they had “already offered them cash to keep it up longer.”
Here, a nearby installer took on the two-phase project after larger companies declined it, which meant the homeowner could still use the roofers’ scaffold rather than lose the chance to install the panels.
