NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) has issued a tender for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a 1 GW (2 × 500 MW) ground-mounted solar PV project at Kambadur in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Separately, NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) has invited bids for the EPC package for a 3,300 MWh BESS at the NTPC REL Khavda solar plant in Gujarat.
The 1 GW solar project at Kambadur, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, is proposed to be executed in two 500 MW blocks under the EPC mode.
The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, packing, loading and forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation, testing and commissioning of the solar PV project. The supply of solar PV modules is also included in the package.
The selected bidder will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the solar PV plant for three years from successful project commissioning.
The 3,300 MWh BESS project at the NTPC REL Khavda solar plant in Gujarat is divided into four blocks, all located at PSS-1 at NTPC REL Khavda. Three blocks will each have a capacity of 300 MW/900 MWh, while the fourth will have a capacity of 200 MW/600 MWh.
The BESS package will be executed on a turnkey basis. The scope includes design, engineering, supply, packing and forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation and commissioning of the grid-connected battery energy storage system.
The selected bidder will also be required to provide comprehensive operation and maintenance services for 15 years.
The tender specifies a design life of 25 years for the BESS, including its batteries, from the date of commissioning, with capacity degradation to be considered as per the bidder’s proposal for daily single-cycle operation.
In addition, the batteries offered must be rated for a minimum operational life of 25 years under a single-cycle-per-day application.
