Danish independent power producer (IPP) European Energy has secured construction financing from Jyske Bank for a 57.4MWp solar plant in Bedfordshire.
The 45.5MW Snakes Meadow solar farm has been developed thus far by European Energy, which currently owns 100% of the project. The developer said it might bring in a new long-term owner later in the project lifecycle while continuing to oversee construction.
Jyske Bank will provide a construction credit facility of DKK255 million (£28.8 million) and a DKK36 million letter of credit and guarantee facility. It is the first UK construction financing between Jyske Bank and European Energy, the company said. In August, it secured a comparable financing deal with Danske Bank for a 68MW project in Cornwall.
The Snakes Meadow project is due to enter commercial operation in 2027 and has a grid connection secured.
According to Solar Media Market Research’s database, European Energy currently has 13 sites awaiting or under construction in the UK.
