Vadodara-based Kredence Electronics Materials is expanding its high-purity chemical manufacturing capabilities with a new hydrogen peroxide purification facility with an annual capacity of approximately 40,000 metric tons.
The project marks a significant step in the company’s efforts to strengthen the domestic supply chain for electronic-grade chemicals serving India’s rapidly expanding solar-cell manufacturing industry and emerging semiconductor ecosystem. India’s solar cell capacity is slated to rise from about 35 GW currently to 100 GW by 2027-28.
Over the last 11 years, Kredence has developed its business around high-purity chemicals, supply-chain management and technical support for electronics manufacturing. What began with a focus on the Indian solar industry has gradually evolved into a broader platform covering specialised wet chemicals, inventory management, application support and technology-led products.
As solar-cell manufacturing capacity expands in India, demand for electronic-grade hydrogen peroxide is also expected to rise alongside. At the same time, semiconductor manufacturing in the country is creating demand for chemicals requiring substantially tighter contamination control and analytical standards.
Bharat Bhatnagar, Managing Director, Kredence stresses that “India’s renewable energy and semiconductor ecosystem is entering a transformative phase. At Kredence, our focus is to build reliable, high-quality electronic-grade chemical solutions with strong local manufacturing, technology partnerships and just-in-time supply. We are committed to supporting India’s ambition of becoming a globally competitive manufacturing hub while creating a sustainable, technology-driven future.”
Kredence is developing the facility with advanced purification and quality-control capabilities, targeting impurity control at approximately the 0.1 ppb (parts per billion) level for relevant parameters. This level of purification is intended to support requirements across both solar manufacturing and, progressively, semiconductor and advanced electronics applications.
The project, besides strengthening domestic availability of high-purity hydrogen peroxide, will also reduce dependence on imported material and improve supply-chain resilience for Indian manufacturers.
Alongside the increase in manufacturing capacity, Kredence is also expanding the scale of its inventory and logistics infrastructure. The company has built its supply model around Just-in-Time inventory management, recognising that the availability of critical chemicals directly affects production continuity, plant utilisation and manufacturing efficiency for solar-cell producers.
As customer capacities have increased, Kredence has progressively developed local inventory planning, warehousing, responsive logistics and close coordination with manufacturing teams. Depending on customer requirements and product volumes, the supply chain includes different packaging and transportation formats, including IBCs and ISO tanks.
The 40,000 metric ton hydrogen peroxide facility is expected to significantly increase the scale at which this model can operate. Greater domestic production and purification capacity will allow the company to maintain larger supply volumes, improve inventory planning and support customers with greater flexibility as their manufacturing operations expand. Kredence says it can currently service customers representing approximately 60–70 GW of solar-cell manufacturing capacity.
While Hydrogen Peroxide will form an important part of Kredence’s next phase of growth, the company continues to expand its broader wet-chemistry portfolio for solar-cell manufacturing. Its product range includes electronic-grade and high-purity chemicals used across Mono PERC, TOPCon and HJT cell technologies, including hydrofluoric acid, hydrochloric acid, potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, hydrogen peroxide, additives and other specialised process chemicals. The company’s strategy has gradually shifted from supplying individual chemicals towards providing a more integrated chemistry platform. This includes supporting product qualification, technical trials, inventory planning, process requirements and continuity of supply..
POCl₃ 7N remains one of Kredence’s key high-purity products for the solar-cell industry. Phosphorus oxychloride is used in the phosphorus diffusion process during solar-cell manufacturing, where consistency and contamination control are important to process performance.
Producing and supplying high-purity POCl₃ requires specialised purification, handling, packaging and quality-control systems. Kredence has developed these capabilities as part of its wider focus on electronic-grade chemicals. The product also reflects the technical foundation the company intends to build upon as it moves towards increasingly demanding purity requirements across electronics manufacturing.
Kredence is also expanding its technology-led solar-cell additive business through partnerships with Chinese technology companies. The initiative combines technology transfer with local manufacturing, dedicated testing capabilities and wafer-level evaluation in India.
The company is also building application-support capabilities to conduct additive trials at customer manufacturing facilities and assist with process optimisation. A significant portion of specialised additives used by Indian cell manufacturers is currently imported. Kredence aims to localise these products through a combination of proven technology, domestic production and on-ground technical support.
The Hydrogen Peroxide project also bridges Kredence’s existing solar business and its ambitions in the semiconductor and advanced electronics sector. Semiconductor manufacturing requires significantly tighter control over metallic impurities, particles, contamination, packaging and consistency than conventional industrial chemical applications.
Kredence is therefore investing not only in purification infrastructure but also in analytical testing, contamination control, specialised packaging, quality systems and technical expertise required for progressively higher-purity applications. Its experience in the solar industry provides a foundation in high-purity chemicals, customer qualification, large-scale supply, JIT inventory management, and technical coordination with manufacturing facilities.
Kredence has become an integral part of India’s solar-cell manufacturing ecosystem, supporting customers not only through high-purity products but also through dependable supply, technical support and responsive service. As the industry continues to expand and evolve, Kredence remains committed to strengthening its capabilities and continuing to serve its customers with the reliability and flexibility
