Arevon Energy, Inc. revealed on October 13, 2026 that it has finalized three 20-year Indexed Renewable Energy Credit agreements tied to its Panther Energy Project, per a company press release. The contracts were signed with Ameren Illinois Company, Commonwealth Edison Company, and MidAmerican Energy Company.
Situated in Perry County, Illinois, the Panther Energy Project is a solar installation with 200 megawatts of alternating current capacity and 275 megawatts of direct current capacity. Work is expected to start in 2027 and wrap up in 2028, producing roughly 200 jobs during construction.
Over the course of its operational lifespan, the project is projected to deliver about $20 million in property tax revenue, supporting local schools, infrastructure, and other public services while spurring further economic activity. Arevon has opened an office in Pinckneyville so that landowners, residents, and other community members can engage directly with the Panther project team throughout development and the forthcoming construction phase. When running, the installation is anticipated to produce sufficient electricity for over 37,000 homes in Illinois.
These multi-decade commercial arrangements came after Panther Energy was chosen in the Illinois Power Agency’s Summer 2026 Indexed REC solicitation, which received approval from the Illinois Commerce Commission. Through the procurement process, Panther Energy was picked to supply 421,131 RECs during the initial year, distributed across Ameren Illinois, ComEd, and MidAmerican via distinct long-term agreements with each utility.
The Indexed REC framework offers enduring revenue predictability that facilitates the creation and financing of fresh renewable energy ventures. The RECs obtained by the utilities will assist them in fulfilling their duties under the Illinois Renewable Portfolio Standard.
The Summer 2026 solicitation took place under Illinois’s Climate and Equitable Jobs Act, enacted in 2021, which created the Indexed REC pricing mechanism for utility-scale renewable energy purchases. Altogether, the Illinois Commerce Commission sanctioned contracts for 1.55 gigawatts of additional renewable energy capacity, encompassing four utility-scale solar installations amounting to 740 megawatts of alternating current, as part of the Summer 2026 procurement.
Tommy Greer, Chief Commercial Officer at Arevon, stated that the company takes pride in collaborating with Ameren Illinois, ComEd, and MidAmerican through the IPA procurement to advance Panther Energy toward construction and support Illinois’s energy objectives. He conveyed gratitude for the cooperation of Perry County residents, landowners, and local officials during the project’s development, and noted that the company anticipates supplying dependable, locally produced energy to the grid while generating jobs, yielding long-term economic advantages, and contributing to the local community.
Arevon is expanding its presence in the U.S. Midwest through operation, construction, and ongoing development of energy facilities. Notable recent Midwest achievements include the commencement of operations at its 430 megawatt direct current Kelso Solar Project in Missouri and the Ratts 1 and Heirloom Solar Projects in Indiana, which together total 264 megawatts direct current. Ratts 1 and Heirloom received the 2025 Proximo North America Solar Deal of the Year award. The company is also close to finishing construction on its 124 megawatt direct current Big Muddy Solar Project in Jackson County, Illinois. Furthermore, Arevon developed and oversaw construction of the 251 megawatt direct current Gibson Solar Project and the 228 megawatt direct current Posey Solar Project in Indiana for local utilities.
Arevon is a U.S. energy firm based in Scottsdale, Arizona, with a regional office in New York City. It develops, finances, builds, owns, and operates renewable energy projects across the nation. Arevon possesses and manages over 6.3 gigawatts of solar and energy storage projects spanning 18 states, is presently building 370 megawatts of new capacity, and holds a development pipeline. The company has also worked with local utilities to develop and construct 480 megawatts of solar energy.
