Kerry is the first location in the country for plans to develop a community-led solar farm.
That’s according to Hugh Reynolds, who is director and co-founder of Brighter Kerry.
The project is a volunteer-led, community-owned solar farm planned for Kilcummin, with all profits going back to the community and charities.
Mr Reynolds states the project has already made significant progress, including planning, an ESB grid connection to Coolcorcoran substation, and a 15-year guaranteed purchase agreement.
He says it’s hoped construction will begin next summer, and it’ll be up and running by March 2028; adding the project is now open for investors.
