Why partial shading should no longer define your system yield – AIKO webinar – Green Building Africa

Partial shading remains one of the most persistent constraints on photovoltaic system performance, particularly in built environments where rooftops, vegetation, adjacent structures and changing sun angles can reduce the energy available to parts of an array. AIKO will address this challenge in a technical webinar titled “Why partial shading should no longer define your system yield”, taking place on 21 October 2026 at 10:00 SAST, 09:00 WAT and 10:00 CAT.

The session will focus on Advanced Back Contact (ABC) Module Architecture and System Level Optimisation, exploring how module design and system configuration can work together to support stronger yield outcomes when shading occurs. Rather than treating partial shading as an unavoidable limitation, the discussion will examine the engineering principles that influence how a system responds to non-uniform irradiance.
Adnane El Youssofi, Solutions Engineer at AIKO MEA DG, and Ridhaa Orrie, Technical Sales Manager at AIKO MEA DG, will lead the technical discussion.
Engineering led case study
The webinar will  include a case study deep dive, giving attendees a practical view of how ABC architecture relates to system level yield. The discussion is intended to connect module level design considerations with the broader performance of a photovoltaic installation.
Attendees will gain insight into why partial shading can affect system yield, how ABC module architecture relates to system level performance, and what system level optimisation can contribute in real world applications. A live question and answer session will allow participants to engage directly with the AIKO technical team.
The content is designed for engineers and technical professionals working in solar PV, electrical systems and energy, module design and applications, system performance, and related research. It will be particularly relevant to those involved in system design, performance assessment, project development and technical specification.
Berlin BC Summit
Participants will also receive information on the upcoming Berlin BC Summit, which will take place from 8 to 12 December 2026. The summit forms part of AIKO’s broader engagement with the back contact technology ecosystem and will provide further opportunities for technical exchange.
Registration for the webinar is available through the official registration link. The session will be hosted on Microsoft Teams.
