A BESS factory with a capacity of 1.8 GWh is to come up in India as Sahaj Solar, an India-based solar panel manufacturer, moves into battery storage. The board of the company approved the plan for the site at Dakor in Gujarat, India, on 19 October 2026. The factory is intended to integrate the solar systems business of Sahaj Solar vertically, and that business sells solar modules, water pumps and off-grid power plants. Because the company has reported its existing BESS capacity as nil, the Dakor factory will be its first in the segment. The new capacity is to be added within 12 months, and BESS is to be launched in the same period for domestic and international buyers. The investment has been estimated at about INR 25 crore (~ $2.63 million), which excludes the factory premises that have already been built. The amount is to be financed through debt and internal accruals.
