Madison Energy Infrastructure and Verogy have completed a 7.2-MW solar system for Beaver Water District in Northwest Arkansas, according to Verogy. The project is expected to produce roughly 12,300 MWh each year, covering 15 to 20 percent of the district’s electricity requirements.
Beaver Water District, based in Lowell, Arkansas, serves more than 425,000 customers in the region. The district has received national recognition for sustainability, including the 2023 Sustainable Water Utility Management Award from the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies.
BWD chose Madison Energy Infrastructure through a competitive request-for-proposal process. Madison led development, contracting and financing for the project, while Verogy handled design, procurement, permitting and construction.
The district estimates the installation will deliver $7 million to $11 million in lifetime savings, helping it manage long-term operating costs as demand for water service grows. BWD’s chief executive, M. Lane Crider, said the solar installation supports the district’s ability to supply safe, affordable and reliable water, lowers long-term operating costs, supports regional growth and reinforces its sustainability commitment, with benefits expected to reach customers over decades.
