Indian rooftop solar energy provider Fujiyama Power Systems Limited (UTLSOLAR) has clarified that it remains on track to receive the machinery and equipment for its solar cell manufacturing facility. The company said the required equipment was delivered to its plant in Ratlam. It also maintains it is delivering its solar cell manufacturing as planned and denied any effect from China’s proposed restrictions on the export of technologies and machinery used in solar cell manufacturing.
The clarification comes amid media reports about China’s proposed export restrictions. Fujiyama Power has denied that the proposed measures are expected to have any material impact on its planned 1.2 GW domestic content requirement (DCR) solar cell manufacturing facility in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh.
The company remains confident of commissioning its project as originally planned in Q1 FY2027-28. It also stated that the proposed restrictions are not expected to materially affect the project’s capital expenditure or commissioning timeline.
The ALMM-listed firm further clarified that it has not announced any plans to add solar cell manufacturing capacity beyond the planned 1.2 GW facility at this stage. The company also stated that its operations do not depend on any ongoing foreign technology transfer and remain unaffected by the proposed restrictions.
The company operates in the retail-focused rooftop solar segment, manufacturing and supplying Solar Power Generation Systems (SPGS) comprising solar inverters, solar batteries, and solar panels. Its solar panel manufacturing capabilities represent backward integration of its rooftop solar business, while the planned solar cell manufacturing facility will further strengthen this integration by supplying cells for its solar panel manufacturing operations.
Accordingly, the company does not foresee any material impact from the proposed restrictions on its planned expansion and expects the facility to be commissioned as originally envisaged. It reiterated that its operations are not dependent on any ongoing foreign technology transfer and remain unaffected by the proposed restrictions.
Previously, Fujiyama commissioned a new facility to manufacture solar inverters, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems and other power electronics products. The new unit takes the company’s installed power electronics manufacturing capacity to 4.2 GW as it expands its integrated solar manufacturing footprint in Madhya Pradesh. Fujiyama Power Systems Ltd, the parent company of UTL Solar and Fujiyama Solar, has commissioned a 2 GW power electronics manufacturing facility at Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh, taking its total installed capacity in the segment to 4.2 GW. The commissioning follows the start-up of its 2 GW solar module manufacturing facility at the same site in May. This aligns with the company’s plans to set up a 2 GW manufacturing capacity each for solar modules, batteries, and inverters.
The company has also invested Rs. 5.01 crore in its associate company, Zayo Energy Private Limited (ZEPL), for developing PV ribbon wire, PV busbars, copper wires, solder bars, and solder wires. It also has a division focusing on aluminium frames used in solar panels. Its manufacturing portfolio also includes products such as EVA sheets, junction boxes, and backsheets.
