Insolation Energy Limited, which operates under the INA Solar brand, has entered into a five-year strategic partnership with US-based Caelux Corporation to commercialise 3 GW of advanced solar modules combining Caelux’s Energy Producing Glass technology with INA Solar’s N-Type TOPCon manufacturing platform. The collaboration aims to develop high-efficiency solar modules, with commercial production targeting module efficiency of up to 29% by 2028.
The planned Hybrid-Tandem solar modules will combine TOPCon solar cells with a perovskite-based glass layer designed to generate additional electricity. According to the companies, the technology is intended to increase power density, improve energy generation and reduce the levelised cost of electricity (LCOE). The partnership will cover technology validation, manufacturing readiness and applicable regulatory approvals, including requirements under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM).
Manish Gupta, chairman of Insolation Energy, said the collaboration would combine perovskite technology with the company’s TOPCon manufacturing capabilities to develop high-efficiency solar modules and support India’s renewable energy ambitions.
Vikas Jain, managing director of Insolation Energy, said the agreement supported the company’s focus on developing an integrated solar manufacturing ecosystem through innovation and advanced technology.
Scott Graybeal, chief executive officer of Caelux Corporation, said the partnership was intended to bring next-generation solar technology into commercial production at scale in India. He added that the agreement would take Caelux’s global contracted volume with solar module manufacturers beyond 25 GW.
Vish Iyer, managing director for India and West Asia at Caelux, said combining Energy Producing Glass with TOPCon technology could bring high-power-density solar modules to the Indian market.
INA Solar currently operates three solar module manufacturing facilities in Jaipur, Rajasthan, with a combined annual capacity of 5.5 GW. The company is also developing a 4.5 GW TOPCon solar cell manufacturing facility and an aluminium frame manufacturing facility with a capacity of 18,000 metric tonnes per annum in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh.
Its product portfolio includes TOPCon and Mono PERC solar modules ranging from 500 Wp to 635 Wp, along with engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services. The company also has an independent power producer (IPP) portfolio of approximately 400 MW.
Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Jaipur, Insolation Energy is listed on the NSE and BSE. According to the supplied company information, it operates across more than 250 districts, serves over 40,000 customers and has a network of more than 1,000 channel partners.
Caelux Corporation is headquartered in Baldwin Park, California, and specialises in perovskite solar technology. Its Energy Producing Glass technology is designed to turn the upper glass layer of a solar module into an additional power-generating layer, with the aim of increasing power density and improving the economics of solar projects.
The partnership adds another proposed application of perovskite technology to India’s solar manufacturing sector. Its progress will depend on technology validation, manufacturing readiness and the required regulatory approvals, including ALMM compliance. The target of achieving module efficiency of up to 29% by 2028 remains a commercial objective rather than a confirmed production outcome. The agreement also comes as INA Solar develops additional manufacturing capacity, including a 4.5 GW solar cell facility. Actual production timelines and the commercial performance of the new modules will be important developments to track.
