Leonardo has outlined plans to finish 43 MW of solar installations spread across 20 sites by the end of 2026, according to pv magazine. The program is intended to cover roughly 10% of the group’s energy consumption in Italy through self-consumption, amounting to about 55 GWh.
The effort is being carried out by Leonardo Global Solutions alongside energy sector operators that the company did not name. As of the reporting date, 64% of the planned capacity is already in operation. Italy holds the largest share of the installations, while the program also covers sites in Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Among the biggest single projects is a 9.8 MW solar plant at the group’s site in Nola, near Naples, which meets about 24% of that facility’s energy needs. The plant uses more than 24,000 panels across a gross area of 80,000 square meters.
The details point to a phased rollout, with the majority of capacity still to be brought online before the end of 2026 and the geographic spread extending beyond the group’s home market. The company has not disclosed the identity of its partner operators or the expected timing of the remaining installations.
