Kolkata-based Vikram Solar, an Indian solar module manufacturer, has secured an order to supply 289.87 MWp of N-TOPCon solar modules to NLC India Limited (NLCIL), on behalf of NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL).
In a press release, Vikram Solar said the order is for an 810 MW solar power project at the RUVN Solar Park in Pugal, Bikaner, Rajasthan, one of the largest solar parks in the country. Vikram Solar has its own 9 GW cell manufacturing capacity for TOPcon coming up in Tamil Nadu, expected to be commissioned in December this year. Using that capacity will probably be a key part of serviving this order.
Built on N-type TOPCon cell technology, the modules are designed to deliver higher energy yields and stable output under high-irradiance and high-temperature conditions such as those in western Rajasthan.
Last year, NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL) entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the 810 MW solar project being developed at the RVUNL Solar Park. The project is part of the 2,000 MW Pugal Solar Park being developed by Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL).
Bondada Engineering has also secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order from NLC India Renewables for work related to the same solar project. The company had previously secured an EPC order worth ₹945 crore for balance-of-system (BOS) works at the RVUNL Solar Park in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The order also includes three years of operations and maintenance (O&M).
Spread across the Thar region, the RUVN Solar Park is part of Rajasthan’s efforts to harness its substantial solar resources as the state continues to expand its utility-scale solar capacity.
Sameer Nagpal, Chief Executive Officer of Vikram Solar, said, “As India builds clean energy capacity at gigawatt scale, the industry is placing greater value on technology and supply partners it can rely on over the long term. Being entrusted with nearly 290 MWp of modules for this landmark project is a strong endorsement of our N-TOPCon technology and our ability to deliver at utility scale. As we deepen our integrated manufacturing capabilities, our priority is to give customers the performance certainty and supply reliability that projects of this size demand.”
