Insolation Energy, an India-based solar module manufacturer, has signed a five-year partnership with Caelux of California to commercialise 3 GW of Hybrid-Tandem solar modules. The Energy Producing Glass of Caelux is to be combined with the N-type TOPCon platform that Insolation sells under its INA Solar brand. The glass carries a perovskite layer that generates power, so that the top glass of each module becomes an additional producing layer. That layer is meant to raise energy output and to lower the levelised cost of electricity. The two companies are aiming for a module efficiency of up to 29% in commercial production by 2028. Until then, they will work on technology validation and manufacturing readiness, and they will seek approvals such as the ALMM listing in India. Insolation already operates 5.5 GW of module capacity in Jaipur, and it is building a 4.5 GW cell factory in Madhya Pradesh.
