Lexington approves community benefits deal for Haley Pike solar project – WKYT

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A solar project planned for the closed Haley Pike Landfill will include direct funding for community programs to help low-income households with high energy costs.
The Urban County Council approved the Community Benefits Agreement Oct. 22 as part of its contract with developer Social Impact Solar.
Under the agreement, the company will also fund environmental education programs and workforce development workshops.
City leaders say the Haley Pike project is notable nationally for its size and for redeveloping a brownfield site rather than farmland.
The agreement also requires the company to report occupational license fees tied to the project, allowing the council to track additional revenue.
