Luno Solar breaks ground on 2.4 GW solar cell and module manufacturing park – Power Peak Digest

Haridwar-based Luno Solar has begun a major manufacturing expansion in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh, marking the groundbreaking of its proposed Luno Renewable Park on October 12, 2026 at the Mohasa-Babai Industrial Area. The planned 45-acre facility will combine solar cell and module manufacturing with inverter and battery storage production.
The company expects module manufacturing to begin within three months of the groundbreaking and the first batch of cells within nine months, subject to project execution.
Planned capacities
The park includes 2.4 GW of solar cell capacity using TOPCon technology and 2.4 GW of solar module capacity. It also provides for 1.2 GW of inverter capacity and 1.2 GW of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity.
The company estimates that the module line could produce approximately 3,500 modules per day, or 12.6 lakh modules annually, during the first phase. The module facility will operate alongside the cell line, giving Luno planned capabilities across two important stages of solar manufacturing.
Storage focus
Battery storage has emerged as a critical catalyst for solar growth, helping address curtailment and enabling solar energy to power non-solar hours. Luno’s proposed BESS manufacturing line is intended to complement its solar production plans.
Market backdrop
India’s expanding solar sector has created demand not only for new installations but also for a dependable supply of the equipment and components that make them possible. The country is targeting roughly 330 GW of solar capacity by 2030, almost double its existing 168 GW over the next four years. Many in the industry believe the target will be achieved comfortably and exceeded significantly with the right policy backing.
Luno’s proposed park is intended to contribute to the manufacturing side of this transition.
Investor backing
Luno Solar has the backing of Dr. Vivek Bindra, investor and entrepreneur of Bada Business’s Idea to IPO initiative. The company’s proposed investment in cell, module, inverter and battery storage manufacturing highlights how the emergence of solar has catalysed the growth of individual enterprises looking to contribute to the wider development of the domestic clean-energy supply chain.
Dr. Vivek Bindra, entrepreneur and investor, said: “India’s solar ambitions require a strong manufacturing ecosystem behind the installations. Domestic production of cells, modules and supporting equipment, alongside storage capabilities, can contribute to a more dependable clean-energy supply chain.”
